Germantown Crime Spree Perps Imprisoned
Montgomery County Officials Warn Other Criminals to Keep Away

(Orlando, FL) — In Maryland, the "most violent crime spree in Germantown history" is over. Its perpetrators are safely behind bars for a total of more than 70 years. And the main lesson for those who would think of committing similar crimes: it's OK to do so, just not in the state's Montgomery County.

So said Montgomery County Assistant State's Attorney Stephen H. Chaikin in comments made after the prosecutions and sentencings.

Travis C. Mason of Germantown, Anthony S. Moore of Gaithersburg [MD], Jose D. Contreras of Germantown, and Paris T. Lyn of Newport [RI] committed a series of crimes, including stealing a vehicle from a 70-year-old woman from a home that they invaded, ransacked, and burglarized. Armed robbery, first-degree assault charges, and handgun charges were also added to the list.

Chaikin, who prosecuted the cases, proclaimed that members of the public should "stay out of Montgomery County if you're going to be committing these kinds of crimes."

"We're not yet sure where it's actually OK to commit these kinds of crimes, but we're looking into it," said a Montgomery County spokesman, speaking on condition of anonymity. "We're looking into Prince George's County [in MD] and the Anacostia neighborhood of [Washington] DC. After all, they're used to this sort of nonsense."
