(Rockville, MD) — As Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY) continues to fight for his political life, facing several more weeks, if not months, of grilling by his colleagues, his constituents and the media, eyes are now turning to the task of uncovering other fetishes found in the Federal government. In the wake of Weiner's admission that he sent a lewd photo of himself via Twitter, engaged in inappropriate electronic exchanges with other women, and initially lied to the media and his colleagues about both, he is hearing daily calls for his resignation. Investigations at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) have turned up at least one similar pattern of potentially reckless behavior, though nowhere near as damaging as far as personal character or career-wise. The unnamed NRC employee apparently has a fixation on one of the agency's private bathrooms. In the past, this employee was nearly shot by one of the agency's security guards due to a disagreement about who could actually use the facilities. More recently, this restroom has undergone significant remodeling, leading to its partial closure. This apparently did not sit will with the employee, even though there are at least 18 other bathrooms available in One White Flint North (OWFN) alone. "The employee did a version of Paul Revere, and not Sarah Palin's version," said an NRC official, speaking on condition of anonymity. "They warned NRC staff about the bathroom remodeling and closure. They warned NRC visitors the bathroom remodeling and closure. They warned the staff of the McDonald's, across Rockville Pike, about the bathroom remodeling and closure. They even provided tours to all parties of the renovated bathroom. While the employee has no plumbing, decorating or renovation experience, they've taken it upon themselves to be the lead for a project they're literally not involved in and not qualified to be involved in. Where I come from, that's just sick." Undeterred, the NRC employee plans on issuing an agency publication, "Procedures for Using and Renovating NRC Restrooms" (NUREG-BR-35874), before the end of 2011. Until then, their observations on agency plumbing antics will be chronicled in their new blog, Around the Rim. |
