Staples in a Bind
Romney Comment on "Binders Full of Women" Leads to Runs on Office Supply Store

(Hempstead, NY) — One question from Tuesday night's second presidential debate talked about inequalities in the workplace and fair pay for women. Mitt Romney's (R-MA) response was one for the books. Literally.

Romney talked about his time as Massachusetts governor and how he wanted to hire some women – and not all men – for his cabinet.

"And – and so we – we took a concerted effort to go out and find women who had backgrounds that could be qualified to become members of our cabinet. I went to a number of women's groups and said, 'Can you help us find folks,' and they brought us whole binders full of women."

The Internet lit up even more than during the previous debate when Romney suggested he would defund PBS' Big Bird.

Comments about the binders ranged from comparing them with shackles to Romney seeming to be in a 1950s time-warp.

Yet others thought that Romney was launching a new dating Web site.

Thousands of men ransacked dozens of Staples stores across the country after the debate ended. Heading down the aisle displaying binders, men apparently thought that women were actually inside the binders. Fights broke out and Staples stores sold out of most of their stock within hours.

"We thought, like, this was gonna be better than eHarmony," said a Staples ransacker, speaking on condition of anonymity. "Like, I'm not Jewish, but my JDate experience wasn't good, anyway."

The binder quip wasn't the only Romney complaint of the evening.

"Seriously, who says 'gosh' nowadays?" asked an audience member, speaking on condition of anonymity. "He really does seem to be back in the 1950s."
